This Halloween postcard has always intrigued me, so I tried to find exactly what this pull a root thing was. I was able to find out that in Ireland there was an obscure tradition where unmarried women would go out into the garden blindfolded to find a cabbage to pull up. If the cabbage had lots of dirt around the roots, the man they will marry will be rich. They'd then go cook the cabbage and if it was sweet the marriage would be successful, but if it was bitter...well, you know.
Sounds a little complicated to me, and I'd probably settle for a Magic 8 Ball.
The image quality is iffy, but it will print well, This is the only copy of this weird little card that I have.
