This little vintage pumpkin can label would make a great tag or scrapbook piece. It's about 3". When I get some time later I'm going to try to vector it in Illustrator so I can get the image larger. If it works I'll post it later.

Halloween Greetings Postcard
This is one of my favorite Clapsaddle postcards. I love the big eyed kid and the smiling pumpkin. I think the antique and vintage Halloween images are so much better than todays.
Around the 50s and 60s the imagery started changing to cutesy, and then later on to horror. Don't get me wrong, I love a good haunted horror house (and we have some great ones around here), but the old Halloween stuff makes me nostalgic.

Halloween Postcard - Pumpkin Man
This postcard was published around 1905 and is one of my favorites. It features a veggie pumpkin man (veggie people were very popular Halloween card subjects then) and a grumpy looking witch.

Vintage Halloween Postcard
I hope you don't mind all of the Halloween stuff. It's my favorite time of the year, and when I find something spooky cool, I have to share it
🎃

This was published by Whitney. You can tell by the illustration style. Still not sure who the artist was. Hope you like it! I removed the text also, so you can add your own or use it for a Halloween journal card.

Vintage Halloween Postcard
There are several versions of this Taggart postcard, the most common one I've seen has a witch inside the pumpkin. This one features two rather surprised kids who will probably end up kissing unexpectedly! This was published in 1908.

Halloween Pumpkin Witch Postcard Free Download
This is one of the slightly less common pumpkin girl postcards that Whitney published. I have no idea what the black hoodoo is, maybe the magic she's cooking up in the cauldron? Anyway, hope you like it!!

Vintage Halloween Precautions Postcard
The elusive E. Nash was a postcard publisher around the early 1910s and is famous for his series of Halloween postcards, both the Halloween Don'ts, and Halloween Precautions. This is one of the 6 Precautions postcards. He also published many other holiday cards.

Vintage Halloween Witch Postcard - Falls Down a Hill
This Halloween postcard was published by Whitney, but I'm still trying to find out the name of the artist. Kind of like a Jack and Jill scene, I thought it was really sweet!

Grace Drayton Vintage Halloween Postcard - Girl and Pumpkin
So I'm sneaking in more Halloween, I can't help it! This postcard was published by Raphael Tuck in 1913, and while it's not signed, this is definitely by Grace Drayton. She studied at the Drexel University School of Design for Women here in Philadelphia. She went on to create the famous Campbell's kids in 1904 (which this little girl is no doubt related!). She worked as a freelance artist, and is also famous for the Dolly Dingle paper dolls. I'll post some of those later on this week.

Vintage Halloween Postcard - Whitney Witch
Whitney cards are among my favorites! Just a little history, George C. Whitney, after a stint in the Union Army went into business with his brother who ran a stationery shop in Worcester Mass. The company produced Valentine cards and then branched out to other holidays, and items. His Halloween cards are favorites of many collectors. Sadly, the business was liquidated in 1942, but you can still visit the Whitney Historical Museum in Worcester!

So it's getting closer to Halloween (yeah, I know it's only July, but I like to anticipate!). I'm working on fall crafts already, and if you are too, I thought you might like this. The pumpkin label is from the late 1800's and is one of the best examples of decorative advertising, in my opinion. Here it is in full color, and with an aged background. I love sharing free vintage images with you. If you like them, please like and leave a comment.
