Lydia Pinkham Trade Card

This pretty trade card advertised Lydia Estes Pinkham's (February 9, 1819 – May 17, 1883) famous women's tonic. Some thought it was quack medicine, but a few of the ingredients are still used today. It also contained a lot of alcohol, which probably helped more than anything!
The tonic contained Butterfly weed, Black Cohosh, Golden Ragwort (not ragweed), and Fenugreek - all of these have anti-inflammatory properties, and Black Cohosh is still used for menopausal issues.
have 2 versions for you - with and without the ad!

Victorian Calling Cards

I found more calling cards in my stash. The top is a hidden calling card with the name under the scrap. It would be amazing if someone out there finds this and is related to Maud!

Victorian Hidden Calling Card

This is a scan of another very cool calling card from my stash. What is fun about this one is the little scrap on the front bends back, and the name is engraved underneath. It's a hidden calling card. I didn't want to scan the name because it would have damaged the scrap. This is the original scan, I didn't do any photoshop.

Victorian Calling Card

This is another scan from the big Victorian stash I bought. There were several calling cards, and I love how colorful this one is. I left the top one as is, and fixed the bottom one. Not sure what that spill was but it's gone

Godey's Lady's Book Fashion Plate

Godey's Lady's Book was a magazine for women, published in Philadelphia between 1830 and 1878. The magazine is best known for the hand-tinted fashion plate that appeared at the start of each issue. This one is from the April 1850 magazine, showing off the latest Spring fashion!

Vintage Chocolate Trade Card

It's been chilly enough here to want to stay inside with a cup of cocoa. My arthritis isn't liking the cold. Here's an old cocoa trade card from Walter Baker Inc, a very old established chocolate manufacturer!

Vintage Trade Card - Calendar

Just in case you need a calendar (it's a little out of date)! Courtesy of Hoyts German Cologne and Rubifoam (tooth powder). My Grandma used to buy tooth powder when we were kids. I tried it, the kind she used tased like wintergreen. I think Rubifoam was perfume flavored. I can't imagine what that would taste like!

Victorian Corset Trade Card

I love all kinds of antique ephemera. I found this great corset trade card. For anyone interested in typography and turn of the century design, this has it all! I didn't do much to clean it up because I really like the age and wrinkles.

Victorian Trade Card - Cures Everything!

This Victorian trade card is so pretty. I also love the fact that it's advertising one of those spurious medical cures (cures catarrh, hay fever, and deafness). I'm guessing this creme was probably similar to Vicks, full of menthol and not much more. Hope you like it!

Victorian Perfume Trade Card

This is a very cool trade card in the form of a silk purse (or let's get Victorian and call it a reticule!). I always wonder what the perfumes smelled like. I'm not a big perfume person, and some scents give me a headache, but maybe this one was light and pretty!

Vintage Shabby Rose Card

This was an old Christmas postcard that I shabbied up for you.  This would make a really pretty greeting card, a background for a collage, or even a journal card.

Vintage Victorian Trade Card - Witch Hazel

Such a pretty witch hazel trade card, you don't even notice that it's for piles (hemorrhoids)
I love the smell of witch hazel. On really hot days I'll sometimes put it on my horse after he's had a bath. Makes him smell great!

This is a late 19th century raisin label. Who knew there used to be raisin vineyards! This design is so elegant. I love the grape leaf border, and of course I always love roses!! This scan is a little grainy, sorry - but it will print fine. Free to download for personal use!

I'm a little late again today. I took my horse out for a ride before it got hot. He was actually more interested in staying with his friends and munching grass, and he let me know that several times on the walk  He has built in barn GPS!!!
I love this Raphael Tuck postcard. Raphael Tuck & Sons, based in London, was the world's largest postcard publisher during the late 19th and early 20th century. They also made wonderful children's books, and when I find some, I'll post them for you.
His animal postcards are beautiful. Hope you like this one! I put it on an aged background for you.
