This pretty trade card advertised Lydia Estes Pinkham's (February 9, 1819 – May 17, 1883) famous women's tonic. Some thought it was quack medicine, but a few of the ingredients are still used today. It also contained a lot of alcohol, which probably helped more than anything!
The tonic contained Butterfly weed, Black Cohosh, Golden Ragwort (not ragweed), and Fenugreek - all of these have anti-inflammatory properties, and Black Cohosh is still used for menopausal issues.
